Japan-Kazakhstan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On September 20th, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Murat NURTLEU, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, in New York during the United Nations General Assembly. They discussed deepening cooperation between Japan and Kazakhstan, focusing on regional connectivity and energy transition. Both sides agreed on the importance of holding the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue summit next year and coordinating with other countries. They also addressed issues related to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the situation in East Asia, including North Korea. Minister Kamikawa explained Japan's handling of the ALPS treated water discharge, with Kazakhstan expressing understanding.
