On July 18, from 12:10 p.m. for about 40 minutes, Mr. YAMADA Kenji, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with the Delegation of Municipalities of Türkiye. The summary is as follows:

​

State Minister Yamada expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Turkish delegation and hoped their visit to Japan, including tours of the Hyogo Prefectural Wide-Area Disaster Prevention Center and Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park, would be fruitful. He also mentioned to Ms. Fatma ŞAHIN, Mayor of Gaziantep, that he was pleased to see her again following his visit to the earthquake-affected region in March.

Minister Yamada informed the delegation that the Japanese government has decided to provide grant aid totaling approximately USD 34 million as new support for recovery and reconstruction efforts and is also preparing to offer a loan of about USD 550 million on very favorable terms, as communicated by Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio to President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN during their summit phone call.

Both parties agreed to continue fostering cooperation between their countries.
