Signing Ceremony and Japan- Uzbekistan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (Working Dinner)

On March 8, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a working dinner with Mr. Bakhtiyor SAIDOV, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, during his visit to Japan. The meeting, lasting about 80 minutes, covered various topics of bilateral and regional cooperation.

Key Points:

  • Introduction: Minister Kamikawa welcomed Minister Saidov and expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan's condolences over the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Both ministers highlighted the historical friendship and strategic partnership between Japan and Uzbekistan.

  • Bilateral Relations: They discussed enhancing cooperation in people-to-people exchanges, human resource development, and economic collaboration. Minister Kamikawa encouraged Japanese businesses to expand in Uzbekistan, and Minister Saidov expressed a desire to deepen trade and investment ties.

  • "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue: Both ministers reaffirmed the importance of the dialogue, aiming to enhance cooperation in Central Asia. They agreed to work closely toward the upcoming summit.

  • Regional and International Affairs: The ministers exchanged views on regional and global issues, agreeing to maintain close coordination.

  • Gifts and Ceremony: Before the dinner, they signed a cooperation program and exchanged gifts, marking the start of the dinner in a friendly atmosphere.

The meeting underscored the commitment to strengthening Japan-Uzbekistan relations and cooperation in various fields.
